Joe Scurto Executive Director

A 25 year veteran of the horse racing industry, who last served as Deputy Director of the Minnesota Racing Commission from 2014-2019, Joe will lead the Minnesota Racehorse Engagement Project.  Joe has worked directly with horse people, breeders, racetrack management, and horse owners to further advocate for the horse racing industry throughout his professional career.  The vision he brings to this project aligns with its benefactors, and his enthusiasm for the mission is central to the selection of Joe to spearhead this initiative.

Alexis Morrison Director of Engagement

Lexie graduated from Winona State University with a bachelor’s degree in public relations and a minor in business administration in 2017. During her years at Winona State, she was an active member of the American Marketing Association, serving as the Vice President of Advertising.  She also spent her senior year as the secretary to the College of Business Deans Advisory Board.  Lexie was handpicked by the Dean of the College of Business to join the John Latsch Leadership Academy for her leadership and ethical standards.

Lexie became involved in horse racing just before the 2016 race season when she accepted a part-time position as a Licensing Clerk for the Minnesota Racing Commission.  She enjoyed the racing atmosphere and people at Canterbury Park so much that following her graduation she took a full-time position at the Minnesota Racing Commission as Communications Specialist/Licensing Clerk.  After the 2018 race season she moved to Phoenix, Arizona for a social media job, but she couldn’t stay away from Canterbury Park.  She took a position working for her previous boss, Joe Scurto from the commission working on the Minnesota Racehorse Engagement Project.

Lexie is no stranger to meeting new people, so if you see her at Canterbury Park stop her and say hello!
